Suspect sought in fatal shooting

Metro Police are investigating the homicide of a 50-year-old man who was shot and killed Tuesday night outside a convenience store at Lamb Boulevard and Alexander Road.

The victim, identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Wilbert Emory Leslie Jr. of Las Vegas, walked out of the Green Valley Grocery about 11:30 p.m. and a man approached him, Lt. Tom Monahan said. The two men began fighting, and the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Leslie.

The suspect is identified as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man, police said. He was wearing dark clothing and white tennis shoes and was last seen running west on Alexander.

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide section at 229-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

A man killed in a traffic accident about 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards has been identified by the coroner's office as 57-year-old Orozimbo Lopez Souza of Las Vegas.

Metro Police said Souza was heading west on Lake Mead when he failed to stop at a red light at Lamb, hitting the back of a Hyundai and causing a chain-reaction crash involving two other vehicles.

No one else was seriously hurt, police said.
