Milagros Valdez Ashley

Milagros Valdez Ashley, 49, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 24, 1954, in Angeles City, Philippines. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Joel Valdez of the Philippines; three daughters, Loreta Valdez and Alicia Valdez, both of the Philippines, and Imelda Valdez of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; one sister, Carnation Tiglao of Las Vegas; two brothers, Bartolome Tiglao and Martin Tiglao, both of the Philippines; and seven grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services will be in New Jersey. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Lea C. Baker

Lea C. Baker, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 5, 1923, in Lincoln, Neb. A resident for 47 years, she was a retired hotel cocktail waitress.

She is survived by two sons, Phlete Baker and Drew Baker, both of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-6 p.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Peggy J. DeGregorio

Peggy J. DeGregorio, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 27, 1928, in Wink, Texas. A resident for 55 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Charles and Louis, and one daughter, Cyl Grangaard, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Johnnie Wilson of Thompson Falls, Mont.; two brothers, Cody Wilson of Thompson Falls and Bob Wilson of Arizona; and eight grandchildren.

Juanita M. Erskine

Juanita M. Erskine, 73, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Kingston, Ark. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert K.; one daughter, Linda Bland of Corona, Calif.; two sons, Robert K. Erskine Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Ron Erskine of Henderson; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday and 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Allan E. Girtler

Allan E. Girtler, 63, of Las Vegas died March 12 in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Milwaukee. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired laborer at a steel mill.

He is survived by two sons, Ken Girtler of Las Vegas and Ronald Girtler of Milwaukee; three daughters, Gail Girtler, Lynn Girtler and Laurie Girtler, and one stepdaughter, Sherry Evans, all of Milwaukee; two stepsons, Patrick Evans of Las Vegas and Gary Wells of Milwaukee; his former wife, LaVerne Girtler of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Martha Jean Goff

Martha Jean Goff, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Henderson. A clerical worker in education and a member of Disc Jockey Wives of California and Sweet Adelines, she was born May 16, 1927, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by one son, Tim Quillin of Las Vegas; two daughters, Jo Wiliams of Seattle and Janet Meadows of Las Vegas; one sister, Betty Croft of Sun City, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Albert Marion Honer

Albert Marion Honer, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 26, 1930, in Paducah, Ky. A resident for 14 years, he was a manager at TRW Aerospace and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ailene E.; two sons, Ronald of Seattle and John of Denver; three daughters, Karen Skowron of Cope, S.C., Juanita Clayton of Cassville, Mo., and Jeanie Farquhar of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one sister, Nola Bell of Wichita, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Henry Lane, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 1, 1928, in England. A resident for 12 years, he was an insurance agent/owner and a veteran of the British Army.

He is survived by his wife, Marie K.; one son, Christopher C. Lane of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Angela K. Lane of Indianapolis; one brother, Charles E. Lane of England; and one sister, Grace Lane Rohrbacher of Jacksonville, Fla.

Arturo Lazcano, 19, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A food service worker, he was born Dec. 2, 1983, in Texas.

Beverly L. Lillard

Beverly L. Lillard, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 12, 1945, in Los Angeles. A resident for five years, she was a marketing surveyor.

She is survived by one daughter, Danyelle Williams of Gardena, Calif.; two sisters, Dwayne Holden of Las Vegas and Billie Hicks of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.

Edward John Lysek

Edward John Lysek, 87, of Las Vegas and Wichita Falls, Texas, died Sunday in Wichita Falls. He was born Jan. 18, 1916, in St. Leo, Fla. A resident for many years, he was a real estate agent, past president, membership chairman and finance chairman of the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Lions Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Gunther of Burkburnett, Texas, and Karen Gregory of Las Vegas; one brother, Stanley Lysek of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Shirley A. Mickowski

Shirley A. Mickowski, 39, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born July 22, 1963, in Wilkinsburg, Pa. A resident for 23 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Martin E.; one daughter, Lauren Mickowski, two sons, Martin Mickowski and Andrew Mickowski, and her parents, Bob and Norma Harman, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Bonnie Azzinari of Manteca, Calif., and Valarie Andrade of Hollister, Calif.; two brothers, Randy Harman of Las Vegas and Bobby Harman; and her grandmother, Helen Fowler of Delmont, Calif.

Emmanuel T. Pineda

Emmanuel T. Pineda, 65, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. A machinist, he was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Pueblo, Colo.

He is survived by his wife, Filomena; one son, Anthony Manuel Pineda, two daughters, Eleanor Ruth Pineda and Yolanda Esther Pineda, one brother, Insalmo Sarmiento, and two sisters, Esther Pineda-Flores and Connie Ramirez, all of California; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Maureen Sargent

Maureen Sargent, 74, of Sandy Valley died Monday in Henderson. A casino hostess, she was born March 5, 1929, in New York.

She is survived by one son, Tom O'Connor; one daughter, Colleen O'Connor of Goodsprings; and one sister, Jay Murphy of New Jersey.

Lela Ruth Schaefer

Lela Ruth Schaefer, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born March 1, 1915, in Colorado. A resident for 45 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Chuck Schaefer of Las Vegas; two daughters, Sharon Sierra of Las Vegas and Sandy Wagner of High Point, N.C.; one brother, Floyd Orr of Montana; one sister, Millie Stansberry of California; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Artie Shapiro

Artie Shapiro, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 15, 1916, in Denver. A resident for 33 years, he was a retired musician who played with Paul Whiteman and Joe Marsala during the 1940s and was a member of the Musicians Union.

He is survived by his wife, Marie M.; one son, Charles Shapiro of New York state; one daughter, Arlene of Florida; one sister, Barbara Ziferstein of California; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Frank Sperlazzo, 51, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 4, 1952, in Los Angeles. A resident for four years, he was a photographer.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; and one brother, Tony Sperlazzo of West Covina, Calif.

Willie Scott Thomas Jr., 35, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1967, in Compton, Calif. A resident for two years, he was a truck driving instructor for Community College of Southern Nevada's professional driving school.

He is survived by his wife, LaShaun; two sons, Travon Thomas and Tramayne Thomas, both of Los Angeles; one daughter, Leilani Thomas of Las Vegas; his father, Willie Thomas Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Guy Michael McCaskill of Los Angeles; and three sisters, Carolyn McCaskill, Loretta McCaskill and Mischelle Thomas, all of Compton.

Everett Barlow Thompson

Everett Barlow Thompson, 33, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 10, 1969, in Pasadena, Calif. A former Las Vegas resident for 23 years, he was a musician and promoter.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen; his mother, Anne Marie Thompson of North Las Vegas; one brother, Michael Clive Coulson of Italy; one sister, Cynthia Madeleine Patterson of Las Vegas; and his grandmother, Tina VanMoort of Holland.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to a 3:30 p.m. memorial service Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
