TV Azteca coming to Cox on April 1
Friday, March 14, 2003 | 8:50 a.m.
Cox Communications is adding the popular Spanish language TV Azteca network to its lineup. Beginning April 1 subscribers to Cox cable basic tier package can access TV Azteca on channel 63.
Unlike the 12 other Hispanic networks such as Telemundo and Univision currently offered by Cox, TV Azteca is based in Mexico and is one of the two largest producers of Spanish language television programming in the world.
"We are excited to expand out channel offerings by bringing more Spanish-language programming to the growing Hispanic community in Southern Nevada," Steve Schorr, vice president of public and government affairs for Cox Communications, said in a press release. "This new channel directly reflects the expanding interests and needs of our diverse Southern Nevada community."
Cox Communications is the largest cable provider in Southern Nevada, with nearly 400,000 customers, and is the fourth-largest cable company in the United States.
The Greenspun family, owner of the Las Vegas Sun, is a minority owner of the Cox system in Las Vegas.
