Letter: Abandoned by Station Casinos
Tuesday, June 17, 2003 | 8:54 a.m.
Before abandoning the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the myopic executives of Station Casinos apparently failed to consider the impact that their decision may have on the employees of the hundreds of other businesses that remain members of the chamber.
In view of the fact that the casinos under the Station Casinos umbrella are almost completely dependent on patronage by Las Vegans, it seems ignorant at best, and arrogant at worst, for Station Casinos executives to have failed to consider and appreciate the concerns of their former fellow chamber members and, by extension, the employees of those former fellow members.
As a consequence of such failure, those employees may demonstrate to the executives of Station Casinos that far more important than the issue of taxes is generating the revenue on which taxes are paid in the first place.
Abandonment can be a two-way street.
