Savvy wine buys: Lindeman’s Bin 45 ‘02 Cabernet Sauvignon
Wednesday, June 11, 2003 | 8:13 a.m.
Lindeman's, now in its 60th year, has gradually become one of the largest winemakers in Australia, all the while keeping to an affordable price point that allows their wines to reach the masses. Its Bin 45 Shiraz may be their best of a large number of good price-to-quality wines. Shiraz is the Australian term for the Rhone varietal Syrah. This version, though still a bit tannic, has glorious fruit and a nice finish, redolent of red currants, cherries and plums. No wonder that the Aussies have taken a bite out of the French market share.
Available at Smith's, $8.99 ($6.99 with a Fresh Values card).
