Chocolate party set at rec center
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host a girls chocolate party from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.
Participants will learn how to make their own chocolate as well as a variety of chocolate-themed arts and crafts. All supplies will be provided.

Workshop to discuss handling volunteers
As part of the June Lunch and Learn series, the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada will present the workshop Keeping the Peace: A Discussion on Volunteer /Staff Relations from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Las Vegas Valley Water District, 1001 S. Valley View Blvd.
The workshop will feature a panel of experienced volunteer managers discussing how to encourage paid staff to work with volunteers.
Admission is $15; $10 for members of DOVIA and the Nevada Association of Nonprofit Organization.

Bruce Trent Park to host beer festival
The Las Vegas International Beer Festival will be held from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Trent Park, 1600 N. Rampart Blvd.
The event will offer foods from area restaurants, live music, and an opportunity to sample all of the beers at the event. The festival will also have a designated driver's program, with reduced price designated driver tickets available at the door.
