Allegiant Air consolidates headquarters in Vegas
Tuesday, June 10, 2003 | 11:23 a.m.
Allegiant Air, which has its administrative headquarters in Las Vegas but has kept its operations center in Fresno, Calif., will consolidate to one headquarters in Las Vegas later this year.
Eventually about 45 employees will make the move to Las Vegas, with 20 operations and maintenance employees making the move in September and about 25 on aircraft crew bases moving to Las Vegas later in the year.
Mark Peterson, a spokesman for Allegiant, said the company's reservations center, which has 15 employees, will stay in Fresno. About 60 percent of the airline's air-only tickets are now booked by passengers on the airline's Internet site.
Allegiant has a fleet of five twin-engine MD-83 and MD-87 jets with capacities ranging from 130 to 162 seats.
Allegiant's flight schedules won't be affected by the relocation of operational headquarters. The airline currently offers round trips linking Las Vegas with Fresno, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Wichita, Kan. The airline has an ambitious expansion scheduled, with the addition of round trips between Las Vegas and Des Moines, Iowa, June 19; Denver, July 3; Lansing, Mich., July 10; and Fort Collins, Colo., July 31.
The company also has a charter operation, serving Harrah's Entertainment Inc., Apple Vacations, the U.S. Forest Service and several collegiate athletic teams.
