Letter: Producers of repugnant ‘hunt’ must be stopped
Friday, July 18, 2003 | 10:14 a.m.
Young women strip down to their tennis shoes and start running in what looks like a type of course. While they are running, men with paintball guns are shooting at them. The man, and I use this term loosely, who invented this game charges $5,000 and up for the opportunity to engage in violent action against women. The men may also get a video of their repulsive behavior to view at a later date.
I know these women are doing this willingly. But in my opinion, they have not been taught self-respect, dignity or that they do not have to be exploited to make money.
The fact that these men are paying to hurt women is beyond any act of "fun." I have to ask myself: "Would this be OK if it were their daughters, or sisters, or wives? Would it still be fun?
Since I have viewed this act of violence that is apparently acceptable in your city, I have to wonder what your representatives were thinking when they allowed this man to do this? Is Las Vegas so hard up for money that you will resort to the most despicable of acts to gain tourists?
I would hope that some mothers and fathers who reside in your city would see fit to put this man out of business before one of his customers crosses the line from fantasy into reality and kills a woman.
LEIGH LEWIS Southaven, Miss.
