Pizza chain joins Tip-a-Cop program

Sammy's Woodfired Pizza will participate in the Special Olympics Tip-a-Cop program on Wednesday.

All three Sammy's Woodfired locations: 3900 Paradise Road; 6500 W. Sahara Ave.; and 4300 E. Sunset Road, Henderson, will participate in the Special Olympics Tip-a-Cop program from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner, to help raise funds for Special Olympics Nevada.

Vacation Bible school planned

The Rev. Dr. Charles Hemphill, Pastor of the Imani Cathedral United Methodist Church, announced the 2003 Vacation Bible School to be held from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through July 20 at the church, 2727 Civic Center Drive.

Imani's Vacation Bible School will feature a curriculum of the St. Louis, Missouri Christian Board of Publication, which offers a culturally-focused and inter-generational vacation bible school resource that is appealing to all congregations.

Applications taken for academic program

Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center is accepting applications for the Health Careers Opportunity Program Season of Discovery program.

HCOP Season of Discovery is a three-week academic enrichment program, developed to increase Nevada student's academic competitiveness in math, science and other health professions.

The HCOP Season of Discovery program is being held Monday through Aug. 1.
