Dance

Diabetes support
Midbar Kodesh Temple will host the monthly meeting of the Diabetes Support Group immediately after a 7:30 p.m. service today at 1940 Paseo Verde Parkway. Dr. Emil Stein will lead a discussion about the relationship between diabetes, eye care and blindness. Admission is free. 454-4848.
Poetry contest

Songs
The Las Vegas Songwriters Association will sponsor a "pitch/critique" from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cabana Mobile Home Park recreation room, 5303 E. Twain Ave. Songs must be on cassette or compact disc, with two copies of lyrics. Two Nashville publishers will attend. Cost will be $55 prepaid or $60 at door. 223-7255 or 255-7877.
'Call for Work'
The Contemporary Arts Collective is issuing a "Call for Work" from all artists 18 or older for its 14th annual juried show. Two artworks should be dropped off between noon and 4 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays through Feb. 21 at 101 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 101. Entry fees are $30. 382-3886.
