UNLV football coach John Robinson is in the market for another offensive assistant.
Robinson, who bid adieu to offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Vince Alcalde earlier this month, announced on Tuesday that wide receivers coach Garrick McGee had left the program for a similar job at Northwestern.
McGee, 30, will even help coach the Wildcats in their Motor City Bowl matchup with Bowling Green on Dec. 26. It is the fourth stop in four years for McGee, a former University of Oklahoma quarterback who came to the Rebels last spring from Toledo.
Robinson said he hopes to name a new receivers coach in the next few weeks.
Iverson on the shelf
Allen Iverson, the NBA's leading scorer, said he definitely won't play tonight or Friday because of a swollen right knee, an injury that could keep him out of the Philadelphia 76ers' lineup even longer.
Bribery case update
The U.S. Justice Department is seeking to dismiss the charges against John Kim, the son of powerful International Olympic Committee member Kim Un-yong. The government had charged Kim in 1999 with accepting a bogus job, arranged by Salt Lake City Olympic bid officials so that Kim could obtain a green card. He also was charged with lying to investigators.
Magliulo saluted
Annie Magliulo, a junior midfielder from Pengrove, Calif., became the first UNLV woman to be named to the National Soccer Coaches Association West Region all-star team. Magliulo, the Rebels' leading scorer in 2003, was named to the third team.
Canucks lose goalie
Vancouver Canucks backup goaltender Johan Hedberg will be out at least 10 days with a broken left hand.
Monshipour keeps title
Mahyar Monshipour stopped Jairo Tagliaffero on an eighth-round TKO in Paris to retain his WBA super bantamweight title.
