Marrow transplant sought for girl, 8

A blood drive is being held noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the LDS chapel on Ocean Street in Henderson for an 8-year-old girl who has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant.

Donations will be used to replace blood already used by Chrissy Nelson and donors will be asked if they can be tested to see if their marrow matches the girl's.

Nelson had aggressive cancer treatments last February but the cancer returned by Thanksgiving.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age and 110 pounds or more. In appreciation, Penn & Teller show tickets will be available for those who donate.

For more information, call Dan Perlstein at 228-8400, Ext. 0.

All adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and have a microchip implant.

Adoption fees vary up to $60 for cats and $100 for dogs depending on the animal's age, breed and length of stay in the shelter.
