Search continues for missing plane

Las Vegas area pilots are continuing to search for a small aircraft that has been missing since a flight from Tuscon to Eugene, Ore., on Sunday, authorities said.

Authorities are now reporting that the Cessna Centurion P210 was carrying the pilot and his wife. Reports Monday said the pilot was alone on the plane.

This morning before sunrise, an airplane from the Civil Air Patrol headed out from the North Las Vegas Airport to the Tonopah airport to set up a satellite operations base in the search for the plane, Maj. Charles McCarty said.

Two Civil Air Patrol aircraft from North Las Vegas and one from Henderson, two from Reno and two from Elko continued an expanded search today. The Nye County Sheriff's Office is handling the ground search.

There were some reported sightings of the plane Monday night, but they could not be confirmed.

New batch of flu vaccine received

The Clark County Health District received an additional 600 doses of flu vaccine Monday from the Nevada State Health Division.

The vaccine will be available to people at the greatest risk from the flu: children ages 6-23 months, adults 65 or older, pregnant women in their second or third trimester and anyone 2 and older with chronic medical conditions.

People meeting those criteria were told to call the Health District beginning at 8 a.m. today to set an appointment for the shot. This batch of vaccine will be given by appointment only between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday.

The district will continue to work with local, state and federal partners to obtain additional vaccine doses.
