Probation visit turns up meth lab, porn

A surprise visit by a probation officer to a Las Vegas man's home led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab in the bathroom, an assortment of weapons, drug paraphernalia and a homemade pornographic video featuring a 17-year-old runaway, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Stephen Psyzkowski, who is on probation for drug-related offenses, was taken into custody Tuesday at his home in the 3100 block of Spokane Drive, near Desert Inn and Sandhill roads. The probation officer had contacted Metro Police to report her findings, said Ed Henderson, spokesman for the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation.

In addition to videos featuring several different women, authorities found a release form apparently written by Psyzkowski and signed by the 17-year-old giving Psyzkowski permission to videotape their sexual encounters, Henderson said. Videocameras were found in the bedroom, he said.

Police also seized eight homemade weapons, 35 small plastic bags, three glass smoking pipes, 29 glass tubes and a rifle-shotgun cleaning kit.

Metro and Secret Service officers were at Psyzkowski's residence several weeks ago as part of a joint forgery task force and encountered the teenager, said Adam Page, a supervisor in the Parole and Probation Division. She was taken to Westcare but ran away from the facility soon after, Page said.

When the probation officer arrived Tuesday at Psyzkowski's house, she was unaware of the earlier visit by Metro and the Secret Service, Page said.

"It was a random check" by the probation officer, Page said. The timing "was a complete coincidence."

The teen, who was positively identified by Westcare counselors from the video and various photographs found in the house, had not been located as of this morning, Page said.

Psyzkowski was charged with numerous probation violations, including possession of controlled substances, failure to complete substance abuse counseling and not cooperating with his supervising officer.

The Secret Service has taken over handling of additional charges related to the pornographic materials found at the house, Page said.

He was still in custody this morning at the Clark County Detention Center.
