A 7-year-old girl who was killed in a house fire caused by a candle being used as a nightlight Saturday was identified today by the Clark County Coroner as Xena Kramer.
The fire occurred at about 3:30 a.m. when the bedroom of the girl's northeast Las Vegas home was engulfed in flames and smoke.
The child, who had been left by her mother with a couple in the residence at 2617 N. Lamb Blvd., said she was afraid of the dark, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison said.
Apparently the fire was caused by a candle acting as a nightlight in the bedroom, he said.
