Guest columnist Linda Frohlich: Decision: Let’s ‘Chill’ during the offseason

Well, the wait is finally over. My decision is made and everything is official. In a previous column I stated my choices of where I was considering playing this offseason -- in Colorado or returning to Italy. I gave a strong argument for each place and I even asked for responses from you. With all of this said, I have decided to play for ...????

Not that quick! Let me give you my thought process in my decision making.

The first thing is that I need to go to a place where I can improve my God-given talent. I have a vision for myself in terms of my basketball career. It all comes down to that I want to be the best that I can be.

I see my role with the New York Liberty changing, so when it comes to a point where I am looked upon to be the leader, I want to be ready. I want to represent Las Vegas, New York and Germany. I want to represent women's basketball and my God. So I have to get better. I have to challenge myself with the best competition.

I also wanted to take some time off so I can let my body heal from the constant battles that I put it through, so that's why the Colorado Chill was so appealing to me and became my choice for offseason play.

I just had to take the opportunity to play there. It is just a beautiful place to be in the fall and the winter and I was really looking forward to going there, but when Rovereto (my team in Italy) said I could come a little late I had a change of heart and decided to go back to Rovereto.

I truly believe that I have made the right choice. For where I am trying to go in my career, it just seemed the most logical choice. Due to the fact that last year we at Rovereto finished in the top four in the league, we get the great opportunity to play in the Euro league. This is where the best players in the world compete.

Playing against this level of competition, I just could not pass that up. When you want to be the best, you have to take on the best and perform better than them consistently, in my profession. So this is what I have to do.

The last thing that made me choose Italy is that I get to see my family; they are only an hour flight away. Don't worry, though, I will keep you up-to-date with everything once I get there, just keep checking my website during that time.

Until then, though, we have a few weeks left in the WNBA regular season, and we have some playoffs to shoot for!
