Richard Eugene Baggett

Richard Eugene Baggett, 65, of Las Vegas died July 29 in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Ohio. A resident for 43 years, he was a police lieutenant, an Air Force veteran, a member of the Elks and Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Diana; one son, Shawn Owensby; one daughter, Laura Pavlowski; one sister, Nancy Finney; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Patricia Bibeau Baruffi

Patricia Bibeau Baruffi, 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Bismarck, N.D. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A.; four sons, Matthew C. Baruffi and Richard M. Baruffi Jr., both of Pennsylvania, and Richard A. Baruffi II and Charles L. White Jr., both of Hawaii; one brother, Brian H. Bibeau of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Howard Wesley Carpenter

Howard Wesley Carpenter, 60, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Denver. A resident for 41 years, he was a government contractor at the Nevada Test Site and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He is survived by one sister, Mary F. Fish, and one niece, Kim Hilkemeier, both of Arizona.

Arlene M. Jackson

Arlene M. Jackson, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. A hotel PBX operator for 20 years, she was born May 1, 1931, in Greensburg, Pa.

She is survived by one brother, Ron Somple, and two sisters, Sharon Nordstrom and Janice Somple, all of California; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Fritz Andrew Johnson Jr.

Fritz Andrew Johnson Jr., 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born May 16, 1940, in Rockford, Ill. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbi L.; one son, Mike Johnson, one stepdaughter, Amy Dollins, and one sister, Joan Vyvyan, all of Las Vegas; one brother, James Johnson of Racine, Wis.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Justin Lindsey

Justin Lindsey, 31, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 13, 1971. He was an art director in the motion picture industry.

He is survived by his parents, Leanne and David Lindsey of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Patricia Linson of Las Vegas and Barbara and Merle Lindsey of Whittier, Calif.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Wigwam Chapel, 2091 Wigwam Chapel, Green Valley Parkway at Valle Verde Drive. Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is handling arrangements.

John G. Lucus

John G. Lucus, 63, of Las Vegas died July 17 in Las Vegas. A handyman and an Air Force veteran, he was born in Michigan.

He is survived by his companion, Gaylee Asquith of Las Vegas.

Services will be 9:20 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Jisselle S. Lugo

Jisselle S. Lugo, 7 weeks, died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 14, 2003, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her father, Oscar Lugo, her mother, Elissa Stamper, and one brother, Jesse Aldred, all of Las Vegas.

Bernice E. Miller

Bernice E. Miller, 25, of Pope Air Force Base, N.C., died July 23 in an Army medical center. She was born Dec. 29, 1977, in the Philippines. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a department store saleswoman.

She is survived by her husband, Jermaine L.; one son, LaBryant I. Miller of Fayetteville, N.C.; her parents, Evelina and Leonard Duverney, one brother, Anthony C. Duverney, and one sister, Ebony J. Duverney, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4-6 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Main. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Helen Mitchell

Helen Mitchell, 89, of Mesquite died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Detroit. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Taffy Lakatos of Las Vegas and Babs Schexnayder of Lutcher, La.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 6 p.m. rosary today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Tiffiany Ann Morrow

Tiffiany Ann Morrow, 37, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1965, in New Mexico. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her companion, Jesus Gaeta Jr.; two sons, Kyle and Korey; three daughters, Kanika, Kiana and Kayla; her father, George Edwin Morrow; three brothers, Tommy, Ty and Thad.

Joanne Shoals Newton

Joanne Shoals Newton, 55, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 15, 1948, in Los Angeles. A resident for 28 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Story-Turner and Tracy Story-McPherson, both of Henderson; one son, Kenneth Shook-Riddle of San Diego; her mother, Elma Shoals of Las Vegas; three brothers, Wilfred Shoals of North Las Vegas and Charles Shoals and Paul Shoals, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Salvatore Pinotti

Salvatore Pinotti, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A tow truck driver, he was born March 26, 1924, in Fernie, British Columbia.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Gloria Dahl and Patricia Pinotti; one son, Douglas Pinotti; six grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A private burial will follow.

James Robert Sargent

James Robert Sargent, 34, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1969, in Downey, Calif. A resident for nine years, he was a truck driver and a Persian Gulf War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his parents, William R. and Brenda G. Sargent of Las Vegas; one brother, John R. Sargent of Bedford, Texas; and his grandmother, Virginia Kelso of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Vincenzo Sorrentino

Vincenzo Sorrentino, 69, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Italy. A resident for one year, he was a retired nursery owner.

He is survived by his wife, Santa; 11 sons, Aniello Sorrentino, Salvatore Sorrentino, Domminick Sorrentino and Joseph Sorrentino, all of Las Vegas, Louis Sorrentino of Los Angeles, Mario Sorrentino of Burbank, Calif., James Sorrentino and Anthony Sorrentino, both of Palm Coast, Fla., Victor Sorrentino and Luigi Chiarmonte Sorrentino, both of Charlotte, N.C., and John Chiarmonte of Daytona, Fla.; two daughters, Anna Marie Sowulski of Massapequa, N.Y., and Christina Sorrentino of Las Vegas.

Dorothea E. Staack

Dorothea E. Staack, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Evansville, Ind. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired accounting clerk.

She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Burk of Evansville, Ind., Cheryl Brantley of Dallas, Karen Johnson of Las Vegas and Debbie Schmidt of Loveland, Colo.; one son, Daryle Hawkins of Bicknell, Ind.; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be noon Friday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Keith Stroup

Keith Stroup, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Iola, Kan. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired foreman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Lorraine Taylor of Las Vegas; one son, Jerry Lee Stroup of Salt Lake City; one sister, Geraldine Brickens of Independence, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

John C. Tarbet

John C. Tarbet, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A retired structural engineer, he was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Allan Tarbet and Mark Tarbet, two daughters, Laura Tarbet and Elaine Tarbet, and one brother, Harold Tarbet, all of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Charles H. Trotter Sr., 55, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. A bricklayer, he was born May 31, 1948, in Forest, Miss.

He is survived by his companion, Gwendolyn Newell, and one son, Charles H. Trotter Jr., both of Las Vegas.

Kevin L. Whiteley, 41, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born July 27, 1962, in Hemet, Calif. A resident for nine years, he was a hotel security officer.

He is survived by his father, Jerry Whiteley of Iowa; his mother, Wanda Banks, one son, Jerry Formeyer, and one brother, Eric Sutliff, all of California.
