The U.S. Department of Commerce has appointed Manuel Cortez, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, to its newly created U.S. Travel and Tourism Promotion Advisory Board.
Cortez was among 130 candidates reviewed for appointment to the 15-member board created to advise Commerce Secretary Don Evans on how to increase international travel into the United States.
Earlier this year, President Bush approved $50 million to promote U.S. destinations in international markets.
