Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 | 8:38 a.m.
Henderson Parks and Recreation is offering youth (ages 5-12) the opportunity to take part in the Chillin' with Matter science experiment from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.
Participants will explore the three states of matter and investigate the ingredients of the universe.
Hands-on experiments include using dry ice to turn water into ice in 30 seconds, building a bubbling potion, carbonating drinking water, creating smoke illusions like those used in the movies, and turning a nickel into "gold".
Workshops are $20 each, with a $10 supply fee due at class.
