Dotson gets four life terms in Bair killing

Anthony Dotson was sentenced Tuesday to four life terms without the possibility of parole in the bludgeoning death of a 79-year-old Las Vegas woman five years ago.
District Judge Michael Cherry handed down the sentence after jurors last week determined Dotson, 44, should spend the rest of his life in prison for a single count of first-degree murder in the death of Doris Bair.
The sentence was doubled because the victim was over 65. The additional two life sentences came as a result of a charge of first-degree kidnapping of a victim over 65.
Bair was killed in her home in the 1400 block of Bracken Avenue near 15th Street and Oakey Boulevard in December 1999. Her beaten body was found gagged and bound.
Dotson was also sentenced on nine other counts in the case, including burglary, robbery and battery with substantial bodily harm.
Those sentences will make a difference only if the murder and kidnapping convictions are for some reason overturned, Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Owens said.
