Letter: Bush’s vision is bad news for America
Thursday, April 17, 2003 | 8:44 a.m.
Almost everything you hear and read from those who are knowledgeable about what is going on in the White House report the same thing. It is that there is a small but powerful cabal there that has formulated this policy. That cabal consists of Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and his deputy, Paul Wolfowitz.
It seems that it was not enough to topple Saddam Hussein, but now the White house is threatening Syria. What next, the rest of the "Axis of Evil"? Where do some of our friends, like England, France and Israel fit into this picture, since they all possess WMD. Will the policy cause us to go to war with Russia, China, India and Pakistan, because they are also members of the nuclear club?
I wonder what color glasses George W. Bush was wearing when he first viewed the world and said to himself how he was going to change this planet and everything about it so it meets his image of what the world should look like.
The bare thought of it scares me. For if he continues on his path of vision, it will be the United States of America that loses in the long run.
