SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Tenet Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Jeffrey C. Barbakow plans to leave his posts as chairman and board director of the nation's second-largest hospital chain, the Wall Street Journal reported today.
The Journal reported that Barbakow will continue as CEO and his departure from the board after the next annual meeting will leave the 10-member board without any management representatives.
Barbakow will step down later this year as part of a plan to calm discontented shareholders worried about board independence. The company owns Lake Mead Hospital in North Las Vegas, which it hopes to sell.
