Gertrude Adamson

Gertrude Adamson, 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. A resident for 25 years, she was a barmaid.

She is survived by two sons, Anthony Adamson and Gregory Adamson, and one daughter, Janice Auster, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Cumrel Auster of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Johnny Auster of Tuscaloosa; four daughters, Merlene Harewood, Brenda Auster and Vertia Benton, all of Dayton, and Mary Legette of Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Tuesday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ruth B. Altizer

Ruth B. Altizer, 101, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 4, 1902, in Mankato, Minn. A resident for 35 years, she was a retired accountant for a newspaper and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one nephew, Leland Altizer of Glendale, Calif.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd.

Blanche D. Calbi

Blanche D. Calbi, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born July 2, 1920, in Mount Vernon, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, James C.; and two sisters, Rose Coviello of Las Vegas and Jessie Perrotto of Peekskill, N.Y.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Floyd Paul Denstaedt

Floyd Paul Denstaedt, 74, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 4, 1928, in Detroit. A resident for six years, he was a retired automotive technician, an Army veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion, a former member of the Elks Moose in California, a Boy Scout master, a Girl Scout leader and a Little League baseball coach.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons, Sam Denstaedt of Hemet, Calif., and Joe Denstaedt of Henderson; two daughters, Donna Smith of Hartford, Ark., and Kathy Torres of Las Vegas; one sister, Lois Moldenhauer of Marine City, Mich.; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 7 p.m. rosary today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Roy N. Eklund, M.D.

Roy N. Eklund, M.D., 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 2, 1912, in Duluth, Minn. A resident for 65 years, he retired as a physician in 1979 after practicing for 60 years, was an Army captain who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, chief of staff at Clark County Hospital (now UMC) in 1955 and a member of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners 1956-1958.

He is survived by two daughters, Jo Ellen Leitch and Valerie Brower, both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Robert Edmund Frappier

Robert Edmund Frappier, 77, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Highland Park, Mich. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired physician and surgeon, a World War II Navy veteran, a master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine, all in Michigan, Michigan Osteopathic Association, Elks, Zelzah Center, Boulder City Shrine Club, Royal Order of Jesters and Hillybilly Clan 47, all in Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Marie E.; two sons, Dr. Michael R. Frappier of Flushing, Mich., and Dr. J. Gregory Frappier of Cincinnati; one daughter, Candace M. Benner of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Virtis 'Nell' Gray

Virtis "Nell" Gray, 69, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born May 26, 1933, in Dallas. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Odell M. Gray of Houston and Elbert D. Gray and Kenneth R. Gray, both of Las Vegas; two daughters, Imogene Gray-Jones of Dallas and Roxie Gray-Witt of Las Vegas; one sister, Barbara J. Allen of Chicago; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St.

Gordon W. Houchin

Gordon W. Houchin, 76, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 29, 1926, in Winslow, Ind. A resident for 14 years, he owned and operated Donut Delite in Illinois and Arizona, was a former milkman, former machinist and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two sons, James of Las Vegas and Todd of Appleton, Wis.; three daughters, Susan Lillybeck of Port Byron, Ill., Nancy Sherer of Las Vegas and Tamara Brozovich of Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, Henry Houchin of Reno and James Houchin of Las Vegas; two sisters, Eleanor Nixon of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Nellie Gilman of Sun City, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-6 p.m. today in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Katherine W. 'Kay' Hull

Katherine W. "Kay" Hull, 82, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Wilmington, Del. A resident for 48 years, she was a retired hotel waitress.

She is survived by one daughter, Patti Stava, and two sons, Bert Hull and Bill Hull, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Joseph Manning of Wilmington; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

June M. Jachetti

June M. Jachetti, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. An executive secretary for the Las Vegas Housing Authority, she was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Indiana.

She is survived by her husband, Nicholas R. Jachetti of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Trenton, N.J. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Robert Franklin Kimbrell

Robert Franklin Kimbrell, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Kentucky. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor who served from 1940 to 1960, a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Masons of Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Zelma.

A memorial service will be 12:40 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling arrangements.

Toula Mavrantonis

Toula Mavrantonis, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 22, 1922, in Greece. A resident for 39 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Stacy Mavrantonis and Michael Mavrantonis, one daughter, Kiki Mavrantonis, and one brother, Chris Patsis, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Georgia Xeros and Niki Nasiotis, both of Greece; and one grandchild.

Services were held at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Gaetana 'Tina' Russo

Gaetana "Tina" Russo, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Sicily. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Philip; two sons, Joseph Russo of San Diego and Rocky Russo of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Connie Rossi of Temecula, Calif., and Rosanne Parrino of Las Vegas; one sister, Rosaria Orlando of Covina, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 6 p.m. vigil Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

James E. Smalley Sr.

James E. Smalley Sr., 78, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Peebles, Ohio. A resident for 53 years, he was an assemblyman from 1971 to 1973, was a teacher for 33 years, a retired Army sergeant and World War II veteran. He and his wife were chosen as Distinguished Nevadans in 2002 by the state Board of Regents.

He is survived by his wife, Rae; one son, Ed Smalley of Henderson; two daughters, Alicia Smalley of Minden and Esther Cothrun of Henderson; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Sharon L. Sorenson

Sharon L. Sorenson, 60, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 11, 1942, in Pocatello, Idaho. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Ervin Pannell of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Sheri Pannell of Pocatello and Tina Gomez of Las Vegas; two brothers, Richard Comer of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Tom Sloan of Glendale, Ariz.; one sister, Shirley Denton of Pocatello; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Lillian Swade

Lillian Swade, 75, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Chicago. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Curtis Swade, and one daughter, Debbie Ferruzza, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Jean Moskus of Chicago; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Wednesday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Burial will follow at noon Wednesday in Christ the King. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Ward

Mary Elizabeth Ward, 65, of Las Vegas died March 6 in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Chicago. A resident for 40 years, she was a customer service representative at a bank.

She is survived by her husband, James M.; one daughter, Leslie A. Moreno of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Veronica Miller of Mokena, Ill., and Eleanor Morrey of Frankfort, Ill.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be private.

Kirt Leroy Yates

Kirt Leroy Yates, 46, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A truck driver, he was born Jan. 17, 1957, in Colorado.

He is survived by his wife, Coralie, and his stepfather, Richard Woodworth, both of Colorado; three brothers, Don Yates of Colorado, Tommy Yates of Nevada and Ralph Yates of Oklahoma; and three sisters, Linda Murphy of Nevada, Sharon Wilson of Ohio and Jennie Nelson of Kentucky.
