Woman shot to death in car
A woman was shot to death and another woman was injured about 12:45 a.m. today in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road, Metro Police said.
The women were sleeping in a car in the 900 block of Sierra Vista Drive, when an older model, dark-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Cadillac, pulled into the parking lot. Two people got out of the sedan and began firing shots at the women, Lt. Tom Monahan said.
Witnesses described one of the suspects as a tall Hispanic man wearing a white bandana over his face and another bandana on his head. The other suspect was described as short and thin, police said.
The names of the victims were not released this morning by the Clark County coroner's office.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Metro's homicide section at 229-3521.
Gunfire kills man in parking lot
A man was shot and killed about 1:45 p.m. Sunday while talking to another man in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Swenson Street, Metro Police said.
The two men were standing in the parking lot of the Shelter Island Apartments when a black four-door Suzuki pulled into the lot, witnesses told police. Three or four men got out of the car and fired at the two men.
One of the men was killed, while the other got away by jumping over a block wall and running south. Police haven't been able to find or identify that man. Police do not believe he was hit by gunfire. The name of the victim was not released this morning by the Clark County coroner's office.
One of the suspects was black, appearing to be in his 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches and 160 pounds, witnesses said. He had a shaved head and was wearing a black button-down shirt and dark pants.
The Suzuki may be displaying California license plates with the numbers 515, police said.

Man, 61, found shot to death
Metro Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 61-year-old man found shot about 6 a.m. Sunday.
Harlee Miller was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1900 block of Simmons Street, near Vegas and Rancho drives, Metro Lt. Tom Monahan said.
A possible suspect has been described as a black man, short and thin, in his early 30s wearing a black jacket and white trousers. He was also wearing some kind of black head covering.
Passesenger killed as car hits pickup
A Las Vegas resident was killed in a late-night accident Friday near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.
Metro Police said a car traveling eastbound on Edna Avenue about 11:40 p.m. hit the rear of a pickup truck parked on the south side of the street.
The impact killed the car's passenger, Luis De Jesus Giron-Baldovinos, 25.
Euripde Cruz-Pantoja, 24, the driver of the car, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to University Medical Center.
Metro Traffic Detective Oscar Chavez said police have not filed criminal charges and the investigation is continuing. This is the 37th fatal accident in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
The Boulder City Council
will hold its first April meeting on April 15 instead of Tuesday, which is Election Day. The council typically meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month.
