Seniors will get crime-prevention tips
Workshops for the Senior Crime Prevention Awareness Day will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Texas Station.
Subjects to be covered include personal and financial safety, telemarketing fraud, con artists, and many other safety topics.

Community College will host job fair
The seventh annual Health Occupations Job Fair will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Community College of Southern Nevada, Building D, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd., to match job seekers with employers.
Participants will provide company information and job applications, accept resumes, scheduled interviews and hold on-site interviews.

Deadline nears for folk arts grants
The deadline to apply for a grant through the Nevada Arts Council's Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program is April 15. Applications must be postmarked or arrive at the Nevada Arts Council's Carson City office by 5 p.m. on April 15.
The Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program supports traditional artist by awarding up to 12 grants each year to master folk artists to teach their skills to dedicated apprentices from their own cultures.
Each Apprenticeship award includes $1,700 for the master artist. Applicants may also request funds for supplies, tools, materials and related travel costs necessary to complete the apprenticeship.

Junior Mesquite plans benefit art auction
The Junior Mesquite Club will hold its 25th annual art auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Cancun Resort, 8335 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
A donation of $20 will be required at the door. All proceeds will be donated to Straight from the Streets.

The Neighborhood Congress
will hold its fifth annual meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Participants can sign up to attend two workshops. For more information, call 455-8533.
