The East Coast Hockey League announced Tuesday that it has approved membership applications for the Las Vegas Wranglers and several other West Coast Hockey League franchises.
Anchorage, Bakersfield, Fresno, Idaho, Las Vegas, Long Beach and San Diego are scheduled to begin play in the expanded ECHL in 2003-04 with Ontario and Reno coming on board the following season.
The Wranglers have yet to settle on a home. They are negotiating with the Orleans Arena, currently under construction, and representatives of a planned arena downtown which has yet to break ground.
The ECHL will open its 15th season Oct. 11 with 27 teams in 14 states.
