Incumbent Democrat Maggie Carlton, 45, wants to focus on improving access to health care, raising education funding and dealing with workers compensation issues.
Carlton, a waitress at Treasure Island, had no primary opponent and is a strong union supporter.
Republican Augostin "Tino" Mendoza, 65, is running for the seat for the fourth time. An Army veteran with 24 years of service, he is active in the local Vietnam Veterans of America and is campaigning on education quality and choice, enforcing truancy laws, health care and reducing auto-registration fees.
