Letter: Just can’t take the partisan out of politics
Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 | 9:43 a.m.
I cannot let James J. Poupard's Sept. 27 letter, "Bush comments way out of line," pass without a rebuttal.
Poupard stated, "Let us not forget that this same G.W. Bush dodged the Vietnam War with his family's money and influence, which kept him safe in Texas."
For the record, let us not forget that Bill Clinton, likewise, dodged the draft and refused to serve. This is the same Bill Clinton who "did not inhale" and who "did not have sexual relations with that woman."
One other comment that needs stating. Sen. Harry Reid has called for an investigation of President Bush for traveling at public expense to campaign for Republicans. Why didn't Sen. Reid (whom I respect) call for an investigation into all of the travel that Hillary and Chelsea took at taxpayer expense?
Politics, by nature of the beast, is, always has been, and always will be partisan.
