I am 70 years young. I served in Korea during the war, and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.
I am very patriotic, and if we were threatened by any foreign power, if they would have me, I would volunteer to serve in some way. But I have a question.
Why is it that those who are so eager for war are those who never wear a uniform?
If President George W. Bush is so eager to go halfway around the world, to put our young men and women in the military in harm's way, then I think we should, with one stipulation.
As commander in chief, he should be leading the troops in the front of the attack, M-16 in hand, and his secretary of defense by his side with his M-16. A stroke of the pen sends the troops, but those who use the pen, never go.
