A housekeeper was pistol-whipped during a home invasion robbery about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in a gated community near Buffalo Drive and Sahara Avenue, Metro Police said.
Lt. Ted Snodgrass said a man climbed over the security gate and entered the house through an unlocked back door.
He pulled a handgun on the female resident and female housekeeper, then hit the housekeeper with the gun, Snodgrass said.
"He came in asking for something specific," Snodgrass said, leading police to believe he knows the family and may be connected through employment, but Snodgrass wouldn't elaborate.
Moments after the invation, the male resident interrupted the robbery, Snodgrass said. He walked into the house through the front door to bring medication to his wife, who was sick. He saw the suspect and ran back out through the front door. The suspect fled through the back door.
The housekeeper was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and released.
The victims described the suspect as a black male, between 6 feet and 6-feet-2 with a skinny to medium build. He appeared to be in his mid-20s.
