Alleged heroin dealer in Binion case indicted

The man police allege sold Ted Binion 12 balloons of black tar heroin the night before he was murdered by his live-in girlfriend and her boyfriend has been indicted on drug charges.

According to an indictment unsealed Wednesday, Peter Sheridan, 47, is facing one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for the manufacturing of a controlled substance.

The indictment was handed down six months after police conducted a search on a home in the 3900 block of Dream Street and reportedly found items consistent with a methamphetamine lab, District Attorney Stewart Bell said.

Among the items found were butane tanks, red phosphorus, anti-freeze, flasks, tubing and a hand scale, court records show.

Indicted along with Sheridan was Daniel Sheridan, 29.

Peter Sheridan testified during Sandy Murphy and Rick Tabish's trial in April 2000 that he provided Binion with heroin first in 1985, then every two or three days for a three-month period prior to Binion's death.

Sheridan testified he borrowed $180 from his own mother to buy the drugs from a supplier when Binion called him Sept. 16, 1998, asking Sheridan for 12 balloons of heroin.

Binion was found dead at his posh Las Vegas home the next day. Death was attributed to an overdose of heroin and Xanax, a prescription anti-depressant.
