The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration says it has $5 million in available funds for grants for programs that increase services for older persons with mental health needs.
The funding will be available in 10 grants over the next three years. One grant will be for $1.4 million to fund a national technical assistance center and others will be for $400,000 to build infrastructure for programs.
State and territory agencies can apply, as can city, county and regional agencies, Indian tribes, nonprofit groups and public and private universities.
Contact Betsy McDonel Herr at SAMHSA, (301) 594-2197 for application information. The deadline for applications is June 19.
Meanwhile, the Nevada Arts Council recently approved $782,057 in grants for 86 programs.
Among the grant recipients were the Nevada Theater Company ($5,277), the Las Vegas Jazz Society ($4,444) and the city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department ($4,311).
Other recipients were Las Vegas Art Museum, Boulder City Community Chorus, Henderson Library District and the Contemporary Arts Collective.
