Agassi’s Slam taking shape
Friday, July 12, 2002 | 10:17 a.m.
Elton John, Martina McBride, Dennis Miller and Carlos Santana will be among the celebrities who will perform in the 7th Annual Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children on Sept. 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Since it began in 1995, the event has raised more than $18 million for a variety of charities.
A spokesman for the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation said the names of more celebrities who will perform at the benefit concert will be revealed as the date draws closer.
Fourteen-time Grammy Award-winning producer, arranger and composer David Foster will return for his seventh year as musical director.
In addition to the concert, there will be a gourmet black-tie dinner, a raffle and both live and silent auctions.
Tickets for the event are $35, $65 and $85. They go on sale at 10 a.m., Aug. 10 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office and select Ticketmaster locations.
"We look forward to hosting the Grand Slam for Children at the MGM Grand for the seventh year, and consider it an honor to be able to support Andre in the Foundation's efforts to assist children in our community," Gamal Aziz, MGM Grand president and chief operating officer, said in a prepared statement.
