Palms promotion clarified
Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 | 10:05 a.m.
The general manager of the Palms said the Las Vegas resort would add a disclaimer to three billboards today to allay concerns the state Gaming Control Board expressed earlier this week concerning possibly misleading advertising.
General Manager Jim Hughes said the disclaimers will clarify the qualifications for the resort's January "2 for 1 Royal Flush" promotion.
He said the new information will note that the Palms is awarding double payouts only on a customer's second video poker royal flush in a 24-hour period, and will state additional information about the promotion is available at the hotel's Club Palms booth.
Steve Hixon, chief of the Gaming Control Board's Tax and License Division, said representatives of the board plan to "take another look (at the billboards) today."
Hixon was unable to say whether the board would drop its investigation or any planned actions against the Palms after the billboards are revisited later today.
