Janet Altchek

Janet Altchek, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1925, in New York City. A resident for four years, she was a nurse.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Altchek of Davis, Calif., and Jason Altchek of Henderson; one daughter, Robin Tashima of Glen Ridge, N.J.; one sister, Estelle Kramer of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, 3375 Glen Ave., No. 7, Las Vegas, NV 89121.

Gene Baker

Gene Baker, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born April 23, 1922, in Chicago. A resident for eight years, he was a retired machine shop owner/operator, World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two daughters, Donna Flagg of Washington, Mich., and Suzan D'Ambrosia of Chicago; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

Hershel W. Bateman

Hershel W. Bateman, 71, of Las Vegas and Hurricane, Utah, died Wednesday in Utah. He was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Grangeville, Idaho. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired telecommunications manager and a member of the Sertoma Club, LVEA, Sun City Men's Golf Club and Newcomers Golf Group.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Christie Thompson and Nancy McNary, and one son, Ralph Bateman, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Suzanne Hoenhle of Canada; two brothers, Gordon Bateman of Michigan and Paul Bateman of Idaho; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. until a 6 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, 3375 Glen Ave., No. 7, Las Vegas, NV 89121, American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103, or to Hurricane EMT.

Lethemia Blake

Lethemia Blake, 40, of Las Vegas died Feb. 16 in a local hospital. Born Aug. 23, 1961, in Tallulah, La., she was a resident for many years.

She is survived by four brothers, Charlie, William, Christopher and Stanley Blake, all of Las Vegas; and one daughter, Lethesia Blake.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Church of God in Christ, 911 G St., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ruth M. Corre

Ruth M. Corre, 92, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born April 10, 1909, in Seward, Neb. A resident for eight years, she was a retired hotel operator.

She is survived by one daughter, Joan S. Zucker of Las Vegas; one sister, Agnes Kautto of Salem, Ore., two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be held in Pomona, Calif. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., handled arrangements.

Beatrice Gant

Beatrice Gant, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Ferguson, Ark. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Annie Buford of North Las Vegas and Julia Whitmire of Las Vegas; one son, Lenard Smith of Las Vegas; two sisters, Argenia Watson of South Bend, Ind., and Dorries Hailey of Chicago; three brothers, Ozie Whitfield of Fort Smith, Ark., and Johnnie Hollis and Timothey Moore, both of Chicago; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Greater Carver Baptist Church, , followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Jose Gonzalez-Castro

Joe Gonzalez-Castro, 37, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 20, 1964, in Mexico. A resident for 12 years, he was a casino worker.

He is survived by his wife, Maricella; one son, Jose Gonzalez Jr., and one daughter, Alondra Gonzalez, both of Las Vegas; seven brothers, Alvaro Gonzalez of Las Vegas and Juan Jose Castro, Alfredo Gonzalez-Castro, Gabriel Gonzalez-Castro, Humberto Gonzalez-Castro, Reynaldo Gonzalez-Castro and Sergio Gonzalez-Castro, all of Mexico; four sisters, Lidia Gonzalez of Mexico, Josefina Rocha of Colorado and Lupe Covarrubias and Elvira Duenas, both of Las Vegas.

Services were scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

Annette Jones

Annette Jones, 81, of Las Vegas died Feb. 15 in a local hospital. She was born July 21, 1920, in Arkansas. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one sister, Arlene Delton of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Saturday in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be in California.

Clinton Ray Jordan

Clinton Ray Jordan, 22, of Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 24, 1979, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a cook.

He is survived by his mother, Mary E. Jordan, and one brother, Eric Ray Jordan, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be noon Saturday in Vegas View Church of God in Christ, 1906 Glider St., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Sylvia Kline

Sylvia Kline, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. Born July 28, 1915, in Ohio, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Howard Owen Kline of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Los Angeles. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John R. Kowal

John R. Kowal, 59, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 22, 1942, in Gary, Ind. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired sheet metal worker, Army veteran and a member of the Sheet Metal Union.

He is survived by two sons, John R. Kowal Jr., and Michael W. Kowal, both of Las Vegas; four sisters, Betty of Indiana, Mary of Texas, Jo Ann of California and Dolores of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling private arrangements.

Albert R. LaReau

Albert R. LaReau, 73, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Madison, Wis. A resident for eight years, he was a retired Marine Corps gunnery sergeant and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, and member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife, S. JoAnn; one stepdaughter, Mary McLaRen of Ozark, Mo.; two stepsons, William Shields of Las Vegas and Michael Janak of Vista, Calif.; three brothers, Bernard LaReau of Monticello, Wis., and Paul LaReau and Theodore LaReau, both of Pointyette, Wis.; one sister, Rosemarie Opal of Wisconsin; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Jane Elizabeth Latham

Jane Elizabeth Latham, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 12, 1943, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a school secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; four sons, Christopher, Stephen, Tracy and Robert, her mother, Mae Martin, one sister, Judith Williams, and one brother, David Williams, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the LDS Lorenzi chapel, followed by burial in Memory Gardens.

Arthur S. Lopez

Arthur S. Lopez, 46, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 20, 1955, in Los Angeles. A resident for 15 years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by his companion, Teresa Lopez of Las Vegas; one son, Arthur Lopez Jr., of Covina, Calif.; six daughters, Traci Mendez of Rialto, Calif., Adrianna Enriquez of Santa Maria, Calif., and Christine O'Banner, Jessica Lopez, AnnMarie Lopez and Laura Lopez, all of Las Vegas; his parents, Gilbert H. and Jessie S. Lopez, one brother, Ernest Lopez, and one sister, Yolanda Gomez, all of Las Vegas; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be noon Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Maria M. Marcolina

Maria M. Marcolina, 77, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. Born Aug. 20, 1924, in Boston, she was an office worker.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Maggorie and Ronald Maggorie; and two stepsons, David Marcolina and Gary Marcolina; and one daughter, Marianne Maggorie.

Claire Roy Moore

Claire Roy Moore, 90, of Pahrump died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Dec. 16, 1911, in Wisconsin. A resident for four years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn; one son, Robert Moore of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one daughter, Linda Postal of Pahrump; one brother, Harold Moore of Medford, Wis.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Louie F. Reiger

Louie F. Reiger, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Rugby, N.D. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired contractor and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by four daughters, Sally Cavanaugh of Pahrump, Renee Coleman of Minot, N.D., and Carla Rudolph and Colleen Haefner, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Robert Reiger and Mark Reiger, both of Las Vegas; six sisters, Margaret Duchsherer of Velva, N.D., Irene Mattis of Minot, N.D., and Agnes Breckner of Anderson, Mo., and Helen Zeigler, Elizabeth Keller and Opal Lemer, all of Drake; six brothers, Frank Reiger of Ogden, Utah, Clemens Reiger of Parker, Colo., and Wendlin Reiger, Edmund Reiger, Peter Reiger and Pius Reiger, all of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Roy Anthony Riley

Roy Anthony Riley, 47, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. Born Aug. 9, 1954, in Russellville, Ala., he was a carpenter.

He is survived by his fiancee, Vicki Raney; one daughter, Colleen Ann Riley of Illinois; two sisters, Angela Plumley of Alabama and Rebecca Wolfenbargar of Illinois; and two grandchildren.

Kristine L. Rodriguez

Kristine L. Rodriguez, 36, of Las Vegas died Feb. 17 in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 16, 1965, in Elyria, Ohio. A resident for two years, she was an employee of several banking institutions and a member of the PTA.

She is survived by two daughters, Grace Robriguez of Las Vegas and Amanda Witting of Salt Lake City; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jan M. Hixenbaugh of Las Vegas; one brother, Michael Swanson of Las Vegas; his grandfather, Gene W. Hixen-Baugh of Cheyenne, Wyo.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road No. 16, Henderson.

Wanine Rodriguez

Wanine Rodriguez, 34, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. Born Dec. 23, 1966, in Brazil, she was a model.

She is survived by her mother, Nilta Laurentina of Brazil.

John J. Sherman

John J. Sherman, 77, of Pahrump died Tuesday in Pahrump. He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in California. A resident for 45 years, he was self employed, a Coast Guard veteran, and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Barbra; two daughters, Jill Sherman Short of Washington and Joane Sherman Bales of Maryland; one son, John South Sherman of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, Pahrump.

Willard Snow

Willard Snow, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Kansas. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired welder and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Rose; three daughters, Barbara Davenport of Las Cruces, N.M., and Norma Lee Lagman and Sandra Watson, both of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Larry Dean Snow of Spokane, Wash., and David Epperly of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-3 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jessie K. Spencer

Jessie K. Spencer, 83, of Boulder City died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born June 14, 1918, in Racine, Wis. A resident for 21 years, she was a business owner.

She is survived by one son, David Spencer of Boulder City; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be in Ypsilanti, Mich. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Cleo Savage Witherell

Cleo Savage Witherell, 90, of Boulder City died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Olean, N.Y. A resident for 23 years, she was a retired bank loan officer.
