GOP calls for candidate pay cut

The state GOP is asking former Clark County lobbyist and Democratic state Senate candidate Terry Lamuraglia to take a pay cut.

Nevada Republican Chairman Bob Seale criticized county officials for moving Lamuraglia into a new role that has a $92,148 top salary but allowing him to keep his $116,080 lobbying salary.

Seale said Lamuraglia created the conflict of interest himself by running for the Senate District 9 seat already being sought by Republican business owner Bill Brady and Assemblyman Dennis Nolan, R-Las Vegas.

"If he wants to run for office and has to transfer jobs, he should be willing to take the pay cut that comes with that new job," Seale said.

The county said Lamuraglia is now in a supervisory position over park police, code enforcement and animal control, and will likely receive additional duties and assignments.

As a result, officials said, Lamuraglia won't fit the exact model of the job with the salary that tops out at $92,148. Lamuraglia's new duties were not immediately available.
