Letter: Responsibility rests squarely now with Bush
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 | 9 a.m.
With the entire federal government now in the complete control of the Republican Party, whatever happens -- good or bad -- the GOP will not be in a position to blame anyone but themselves. As a Democrat, our party must wait in the voiceless minority and watch how the new majority operates.
We will be taking copious notes and our party shall present a challenge in 2004 to the warmongering gang at the White House and all the puppets in the GOP-controlled Congress.
If Bush takes us to war with Iraq or Korea, the entire responsibility shall rest upon his, and only his, shoulders. It shall not be Clinton's show nor the Supreme Court's show, it shall be G.W. Bush's show all the way.
When the body bags and flag-draped coffins come home to Andrews Air Base, it shall fall squarely upon Bush.
When Bush angers the 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, his words assuring that the war is not against Islam, the words shall ring hollow, because he lacks the understanding of how they already dislike us.
They will rally around Iraq, in my opinion, and surprise the world with their resolve.
We are embarking on a hazardous mission by concentrating on Iraq and not going after the al-Qaida with our full resources.
