SCORE will offer new-business help

The Las Vegas Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives will present a workshop entitled "How to Really Start Your Own Business," at 9 a.m. Thursday at 400 S. Fourth St., Suite 250A.

SCORE counselors will cover marketing, cash flow, business plans and a check list for licensing, permits and other requirements.

The $45 cost includes a 292-page reference manual and workbook to help analyze your business ideas. To pre-register or for more information call 388-6104.

Teddy Bear Tea scheduled on Saturday

Pulidor Foundation/Spirit of the Nations, Pulidor Entertainment and the Nevada Youth Alliance will present the fifth annual Teddy Bear Tea and Fashion Show from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Turnberry Place, 2777 Paradise Road.

The event includes a fashion show with models escorted by volunteer firefighters and police, a Santa Claus, Santa's helpers, toy soldiers, a silent auction, door prizes and teddy bears to go.

All proceeds from the event are to go to the homeless children of Nevada, organizers said. For tickets call 365-5686. For more information call 393-6163.

Southern Nevada's mayors

and Station Casinos' food drive brought in more than 10,000 pounds of donated food to the Salvation Army. The food will be distributed through the Family Services Department of the Salvation Army at 35 W. Owens St.
