Las Vegas travel expected to fall

Labor Day weekend visitation to Southern Nevada will be down slightly from last year's levels, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said today.

The LVCVA said 270,000 people are expected to be in the city this weekend, representing an occupancy rate of about 93.5 percent. That compares with 274,000 and an occupancy rate of 95.5 percent during last year's three-day weekend.

Many travelers will arrive by car this year. Through June, the average daily vehicle count on all major highways to Las Vegas is up 12.1 percent to 77,777 cars per day.
