Stephanie J. Bartol

Stephanie J. Bartol, 80, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 20, 1922, in New Jersey. A resident for seven years, she was a retired legal secretary.

She is survived by her husband, August; one son, Ronald M. of Fort Pierce, Fla.; one brother, Frank Assini, and one sister, Theresa Assini, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one grandchild.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is arranging private services.

Donna Jean Bethel

Donna Jean Bethel, 66, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A data entry operator, she was born May 2, 1935, in Ohio.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff Bethel and Douglas Dixon; one daughter, Deidre Steiert; her mother, Mary Thomas; her father, Zoa Bethel; one brother, Zoa Roy Bethel; one sister, Joann Mangrum; and four grandchildren.

Joseph F. Carlo

Joseph F. Carlo, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 30, 1948, in Cleveland. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired commercial property painter and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie L.; three daughters, Sherri R. Datson of Charleston, W.Va., and Tonya N. Dodge and Tiffany L. Sharp, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Josephine Carlo of Pennsylvania; one son, Joseph P. Carlo of Las Vegas; two sisters, Rosalie Intorcio and Donna Vaccariello, and two brothers, John Carlo and Ronny Carlo, all of Cleveland; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be noon Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

John J. 'Joe' Flynn

John J. "Joe" Flynn, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Orange, N.J. A resident for 37 years, he owned and operated Shakey's Pizza Parlor, was an Army veteran and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Flynn of Las Vegas and Susan D. Flynn of Pahrump; one son, Jon T. Flynn of Whitehall, Mont.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Mary K. Franko

Mary K. Franko, 93, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 29, 1908, in McKeesport, Pa. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Richard Franko; one sister, Betty of McKeesport; one brother, Jack Franko of Erie, Pa.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Hermanson

Robert Hermanson, 76, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A financial planner, he was born March 15, 1926, in Canada.

He is survived by two sons, David Hermanson and Robert Hermanson; and one daughter, Victoria Riddle.

Graveside services will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

James Paul Hoy

James Paul Hoy, 85, of Pahrump died Saturday in Pahrump. He was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Long Beach, Calif. A resident for two years, he was a civil servant for the Navy and a lifetime member of the Moose.

He is survived by four daughters, Diana Williams of Reno, Paula Hugill of San Diego, Phyllis Hoy of Las Vegas and Jeannette Hoy-Earls of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Martha Laura Hughes

Martha Laura Hughes, 44, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 7, 1957, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 38 years, she was a dealer.

She is survived by one son, Brian A. Roberts of Pahrump; one daughter, Nikki R. Adams, her parents, Harold L. and Alva L. Hughes, and three sisters, Marilyn L. Agnello, Susan Slark and Jeannie L. Hanks, all of Las Vegas; and one brother, Reg L. Hughes of Provo, Utah.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to a 10:30 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS chapel on Charleston Boulevard. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Dennis Gene Kerschen

Dennis Gene Kerschen, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. Retired, he was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Bernetta; two sons, Mike Kerschen of Montana and Steve Kerschen of Colorado; three daughters, Linda Baster of Tennessee and Catherine Kerschen and Vicki Middeker, both of Colorado; three brothers, Gerald Kerschen, Leo Kerschen and Leon Kerschen, all of Kansas; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Burial will be Colorado. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy 'Dottie' Lahtinen

Dorothy "Dottie" Lahtinen, 74, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born May 1, 1927, in Carthage, Mo. A resident for 42 years, she retired from State Farm Insurance in Henderson as an office manager after almost 30 years.

She is survived by five daughters, Mary Schmidt, Lea Sexton, Aina Rodarte and Carrie Paldi, all of Henderson, and Jennie Young of Las Vegas; two sons, Jack Wicha of Eustis, Fla., and Jack Wilson of Crystal Springs, Mich.; one brother, H. Dan Taylor of Las Vegas; two sisters, Harriett Reynolds and Nancy Campbell, and one stepbrother, Roy Campbell, all of Henderson; 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday in Highland Hills Baptist Church, 615 College Drive, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Patrick McLain, 51, of Las Vegas died April 8 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 19, 1950, in Montgomery, Ala. A resident for 22 years, he owned a landscape business and was a veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Rita Kelliher of Pascagoula, Miss.; two brothers, Dennis McLain and Dan McLain, both of Las Vegas; and five sisters, Theresa Coffin, Debra Woosley and Lisa McLain, all of Montgomery, Michele Mitchel of Greensboro, Ala., and Brenda Johnson of Birmingham, Ala.

Eleanor Mary Nye

Eleanor Mary Nye, 64, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Newark, N.J. A resident for 10 years, she was a retail clerk.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis F.; two daughters, Renee R. Rotunda of Las Vegas and Renee N. Nye of Lewiston, Maine; one son, Dean L. Ney of Oxford, Maine; one brother, Robert Barnes of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Joan Petzel of Titusville, Fla., Ann Barnes of Lakewood, N.J., and Marjorie Graffeo of Rockaway, N.J.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne.

Johann Waldene Patino

Johann Waldene Patino, 65, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in North Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Minnesota. A resident for more than 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Mary Patino of Pomona, Calif.

Roberto Miguel 'Pio' Reyes

Roberto Miguel "Pio" Reyes, 77, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A resident for 27 years, he was born July 5, 1924, in Cuba.

He is survived by his wife, Inez; one brother, Rafael Reyes of Miami; and four sisters, Ziola Reyes of Cuba, Caridad Reyes and Estere Reyes, both of Tampa, Fla., and Frances Reyes of Las Vegas.

Henry Frank Schalk

Henry Frank Schalk, 77, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. A building engineer, he was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Chicago.

He is survived by four sons, Charles Schalk, Donald Schalk, Robert Schalk and Theodore Schalk; one daughter, Sandra Paige; two brothers, Raymond Schalk and Richard Schalk; and eight grandchildren.

Timothy Delbert Shattuck

Timothy Delbert Shattuck, 50, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 17, 1952, in Wilmington, Ohio. A resident for 40 years, he was a hotel porter.

He is survived by his parents, Delbert and Virginia Shattuck; and two sisters, Cheryl Jardine of California and Shonda Rogers of Nevada.

Wesley R. Shaw

Wesley R. Shaw, 78, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born July 2, 1923, in Pendleton, Ore. A resident for four years, he was a retired Navy commander and pilot and World War II and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, June R.; one daughter, Kathy R. Sankovich of Casper, Wyo.; one son, Jeffrey W. Shaw of Salem, Ore.; one stepson, Quentin Allen II of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Robert D. Shaw of Eugene, Ore., and Clayton Shaw of Corvallis, Ore.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Melvin L. Sherwood Sr.

Melvin L. Sherwood, 66, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1935, in New London, Wis. A resident for six years, he was a retired charter bus driver and a Korean War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Jeffrey Sherwood of Texas, John Berg and James Berg, both of Nashville, Tenn., and Melvin Sherwood Jr. of Las Vegas; one daughter, Joyce Greenwood of Nashville; his mother, Rosetta Sherwood, and one brother, Evert Sherwood, both of Las Vegas; and 13 grandchildren.

Richard P. Smerke

Richard P. Smerke, 67, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec.17, 1934, in Ohio. A resident for 10 years, he retired as a truck driver from a distributing company.

He is survived by one brother, David R. Smerke-Rio of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-noon Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will be in Ohio.

Anna 'Cuck' Spruell

Anna "Cuck" Spruell, 77, of Indian Springs died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Vian, Okla. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Cleo Corby of Las Vegas and Mary Hutchison and Sharon Spruell, both of Indian Springs; one son, James Spruell of Indian Springs; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Indian Springs Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Robert Arden Stevens, 56, of Las Vegas died April 19 in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 4, 1945, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 38 years, he was a county government building inspector and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia E. Rosbury of Gainesville, Fla.; and his father, Leo A. Stevens of Milton, Fla.

Gloria Telleria, 75, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1926, in New York City. A resident for nine years, she was a retired bookkeeper and a member of the Southern Nevada Amputee Support Group.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Gloria Sugerman of Lincroft, N.J., and Valerie Lucas of Bellerose Village, N.Y.; one brother, Nicholas Petrakis of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Lucille J. Wilcox

Lucille J. Wilcox, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Saratoga, Wyo. A resident for 34 years, she was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carmen Wilcox.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Mills of Las Vegas; one son, Sonny Wilcox of Carson City; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Midajah Ashanti Williams, 2 weeks old, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born April 4, 2002, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her mother, Dottie Aberin, her father, Manuel Williams III, two brothers, KeVan Aberin and Ki-Jana Matthews, and her grandparents, Terry and Roosevelt Williams and Victor and Medy Aberin, all of Las Vegas.
