Letter: Keep open mind on death penalty
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001 | 8:20 a.m.
I read with a great deal of interest the coverage of Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie, D-Reno, being the "head of an interim legislative study of the death penalty."
She said that her committee will "air all sides of the issue" and that she hoped the other seven members will come with an "open mind."
It is indeed interesting that she did not include herself in those who needed to have an open mind and that she only cited examples of why not to have a death penalty.
It could be that she needs to have the "open mind" and stick with facts, not "accusations and rumors."
