Las Vegas area fishing report

LAKE MEAD: Fishing appears to be responding positively to the recent warm weather as anglers have been enjoying fair to good action for striped bass and channel catfish.

Some of the better success for stripers continues to be found in the Overton Arm where boaters have been catching fish in the Virgin Bowl and around Fish Island. One boater reported to the Nevada Division of Wildlife that he caught a limit of 20 stripers near the Meat Hole.

Bonelli Bay, Pumphouse Cove and Black Island have also produced some recent success for stripers. Threadfin shad have been moving in and out of Hemenway Harbor and some anglers have managed to net the fish for use as bait. Largemouth bass are in coves and are being caught by boaters who are fishing with spinner baits and artificial worms.

LAKE MOHAVE: Fair success for stripers that range from one to two pounds continues to be found in the narrows above Cottonwood Cove. Boaters who are fishing around Owl's point have enjoyed fair action as well. The next Willow Beach trout plant is scheduled to take place today.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Now is the time of year to visit the lake because anglers are enjoying excellent fishing for stocked rainbow trout.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR: Limits of five rainbow trout have been coming from the Lincoln County lake.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Anglers who have been fishing at Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs have found steady action for recently planted rainbow trout.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS: Channel catfish were stock into Sunset Park Pond, Lorenzi Park Pond and Floyd Lamb State Park last Friday. Some anglers are having success at Floyd Lamb State Park for largemouth bass using spinnerbait lures near the tule beds.
