Friday, May 11, 2001 | 10:27 a.m.

Henderson resident Jared Munk and former UNLV standout Chris Berry advanced to the sectional qualifying rounds of the U.S. Open.

Munk, Berry and Eddie Heinen each carded 68s to force a playoff at the Black Mountain Golf & Country Club Thursday afternoon.

Munk birdied the first playoff hole, the par-4 No. 1, and Berry made par. Heinen, the first alternate, bogeyed it.

Munk, a 21-year-old Henderson resident, works in the pro shop at Black Mountain. He will try to qualify for the U.S. Open at the 36-hole sectionals in Tarzana, Calif. Berry, a member of UNLV's 1998 NCAA championship team, will play in the sectionals in Memphis, Tenn.
