Camp presents opportunity to experience nature up close
Friday, May 11, 2001 | 10:56 a.m.
One 12-year-old girl has never seen lots of trees or real nature, her mother says. However, the girl has always stressed how she loves the outdoors, swimming, hiking and learning about how to live off the land.
Her mother would like to send her to camp to let her experience the outdoors up close, but she cannot afford it.
The girl is a "people person," her mother says. "She loves to meet new people and try new things."
That's why a camping experience would benefit her.
Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshmallows and singing around the campfire and spending time around camp counselors who are positive role models are the memories that a child will carry with her through the rest of her life.
By joining contributors to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund you are making a difference in a child's life.
