Thursday, June 14, 2001 | 12:48 p.m.
Former WBC bantamweight champion Wayne McCullough was turned down today in his application for a British boxing license.
McCullough, who held the WBC title from 1995-97, wanted to fight Hungarian Sandor Koczek in his hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
But the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) said McCullough was not eligible.
McCullough has been based in Las Vegas since turning professional after winning a silver medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
