Girls want chance to go to summer camp
Friday, July 20, 2001 | 4:35 a.m.
Two sisters, ages 7 and 11, have been active in Girl Scouts. Last year the older girl attended Girl Scout Camp, with the help of a financial sponsor, and learned a lot of new things, their mother says.
"They are very active in Scouting and are eager to learn new things," the mother says.
The 7-year-old was too young to go to camp and is eager to go this year, but the family can't afford to send her or her sister.
"To deny them the great experience of camp just because we're financially unable to afford it not only hurts me as a parent, but my girls as well," their mother says. "Please help us out."
Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshmallows, singing around the campfire and spending time around camp counselors who are positive role models are the memories that a child will carry with her through the rest of her life.
By joining contributors to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund you are making a difference in a child's life.
