Homicides in January in Metro Police's jurisdiction.
Jan. 2: Ramon Preciado-Aldecoa, 31, of Mexico, was found dead from a blow on the head in a desert area near South Bermuda Road and Serene Avenue. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown.
Jan. 9: Stephen Cardinali, 48, was found dead on the sidewalk outside an apartment in the 5200 block of East Tropicana Avenue from a head injury. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown.
Jan. 11: A skull and other skeletal remains were found in a shallow grave in a desert area near Pabco Road and Powerline Road. No identity has been determined.
Jan. 15: Tzatzi Sanchez, 27, of Las Vegas was bound and strangled to death in her home in the 5000 block of Hayward Avenue near Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Two suspects are in custody. The motive appears to be jealousy of an ex-lover.
Jan. 15: Tiffany Averill, 67, of Las Vegas was stabbed to death in her home in a trailer park in the 1200 block of North Lamb Boulevard. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown, but is possibly robbery or burglary.
Jan. 16: Marc Lohr, 31, of Las Vegas was shot to death at the home of his estranged wife's grandmother in the 4200 block of Hazelcrest Drive near Flamingo Road. Lohr's 18-year-old brother-in-law was arrested at the scene. The slaying stemmed from a feud between Lohr and his wife's family.
Jan. 18: Alice Cunningham, 41, of Las Vegas was found stabbed to death in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 500 block of North Lamb Boulevard. Her boyfriend was arrested.
Jan. 20: Esmeralda Martinez, 15, of Las Vegas was shot to death standing in the doorway of a home in the 900 block of Robin Street near Washington Avenue. Three suspects are in custody. The shooting was gang related. Martinez was standing next to a 19-year-old man believed to be the target.
Jan. 23: Duan T. Wilson, 28, of Las Vegas was shot to death while driving a car in the 6500 block of Smoke Ranch Road near Torrey Pines Drive. One suspect is in custody. The motive appears to be jealousy, as the suspect saw Wilson driving his ex-girlfriend's car.
Jan. 23: Elijah Perry-Edwards, 3 weeks old, was found dead at a home in the 900 block of East Twain Avenue near Maryland Parkway. The boy's father is in custody.
Jan. 24: Tony Reyes, 22, was found shot in the 1600 block of East Rochelle Avenue near Eastern Avenue. He later died at University Medical Center. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown.
Jan. 25: Oscar Guerra Leon, 21, of Las Vegas was found dead in the 1800 block of East Bonanza Road near Martin Luther King Boulevard. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown.
Jan. 25: A man was found shot to death about three miles north of State Route 147 in a desert area. The man's identity has not been verified. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown.
Jan. 27: Jose Asencion Adame-Nonge, no age available, of Las Vegas was found shot to death on State Route 170 about two miles south of Interstate 15 -- 85 miles north of Las Vegas. No suspect is in custody and the motive is unknown.
Jan. 28: George M. Thomas, 23, of Las Vegas was stabbed at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Carlyle Drive near Las Vegas Boulevard North and Cheyenne Avenue. A suspect is in custody. The slaying occurred during a fight.
Jan. 29: Martin Bykowski, 40, of Henderson was shot while tending bar at a tavern in the 1500 block of South Main Street near Wyoming Avenue. No suspect is in custody, but robbery does not appear to be the motive. The gunman targeted Bykowski.
January, date unknown: A man is believed to have been killed in an apartment in the 700 block of Casino Center Boulevard, but his body had not been located. Two suspect are in custody. The motive appears to be an argument over money.
Jan. 30: A 3-year-old child died at Sunrise Hospital. The cause of death is pending an autopsy but is attributed to child abuse. A suspect is in custody.
Jan. 31: A woman, whose identity has not been confirmed, was found dead in a motel in the 800 block of Fremont Street. The cause of death is pending an autopsy, but detectives say her death is a homicide. No one is in custody and the motive is unknown.
