The Nevada Resort Association is finalizing plans to air a weekly television show on KVBC-TV, Channel 3.
The NRA is trying to debut the half-hour Sunday afternoon show in the first week of February, said Jan Jones, senior vice president of communications and government affairs for Harrah's Entertainment Inc. Jones will be one of two anchors for the show.
Jones called the show "a news and entertainment format ... a Las Vegas version of the 'Today Show.' "
"It gives us an opportunity to give a very in-depth, informational program, which introduces people to all parts of the gaming industry," Jones said. "We're looking to bring to light some of the important things the gaming industry brings to Southern Nevada, give updates on what's going on in the resort districts ... and the people who make up the gaming industry, the workers who make the industry run. We think it's a lot more important people see that it's a lot more than the bricks and mortar."
Jones said there had been discussions about airing the show on KVBC's sister station in Reno, but the show will not be aired there for now. "Right now, we're just putting our focus on Southern Nevada," she said.
Jones said the NRA will pay to have the show broadcast, but ads may be sold to offset costs.
