Letter: Proposal for wilderness deserves support

As a disabled fisherman, I am confused by the opposition to wilderness by some sporting groups and off-road vehicle users. Fishing habitat is best when there are large chunks of habitat that are unfragmented by roads.
Off-road vehicle users should have access, and in the Citizens' Wilderness proposal, they do. There are boundary roads around just about every potential wilderness area, and many cherry stems (or roads that penetrate wilderness that have the boundary drawn around them) to provide excellent access to these areas without ruining the habitat.
Citizens should look closely at all the proposals that are out there, and ask themselves what is best for Southern Nevada now, and in the future.
Upon closer inspection, it is clear that Sens. Harry Reid and John Ensign should support the Citizens' Wilderness proposal for the Mojave Desert.
