Robert Johnson, chairman and chief executive of Black Entertainment Television, announced plans to acquire the Tres Jazz nightclub at the Paris Las Vegas hotel-casino from BET in partnership with a pair of Miami restauranteurs.
BET announced in January plans to sell the restaurant after BET was acquired by Viacom. Johnson will be a minority partner in the company acquiring the Tres Jazz; his partners, restauranteurs Delius Shirley and Cindy Hutson, will "own and manage new restaurants to be created on properties currently occupied by the BET," including Paris Las Vegas, Johnson said in a statement.
The purchase will also include the BET-owned Jazz Supper Club in Washington, D.C. The purchase price was not disclosed.
